i was at a retreat this weekend and the topic of having the ability to love came up! It was discussed that many people believe that we with autism are not able to express love! This is so wrong! Just because we do not act like others does not mean we do not have the same emotions! We just process differently! We have trouble expressing feelings like others!i have feelings just like everyone else! Please be aware of that when around those of us with autism!
I am able to write this blog because of learning RPM, and I learned from ACE Teaching and Consulting in Green Bay, Wisconsin! This was a life changer for me! Prior to discovering ACE, I was not able to communicate with people and they did not think I was very intelligent! I now am able to let others know what I think, and that I have knowledge of the world and can contribute to make it a better place! Thank you ACE!
I sometimes think that life has no meaningful purpose! It is like we just are putting in our time! That each day blends into the next! We can sleep walk through it! I try not to think about what will happen next! Then something special happens that makes me realize just how special life can be! We should live each day as if it was special! Each day can not be repeated each day is a unique gift from God! Life is strange which makes it exciting and wonderful!
This will be Pastor Mark’s last Sunday at my Dad’s Church! I will miss him! He was always very nice to me and treated me well! He understood me, and accepted my frustrations with God over my autism! He cared enough to try to answer my questions! He would talk about me in his sermons! He said he learned about autism from me! I hope his retirement goes well for him! He will be missed!
I am nonverbal and have autism! I first became aware of this when I was ten years old! My parents knew about this several years before then! While I knew I was different before then, I did not know actually what was wrong with me before then! I often wished that I could be like everyone else! The most frustrating part of being autistic is that I cannot talk! Many times I have wanted to say something but could not! Even today, if I am riding in the car and can’t get to my iPad, I am stuck! Please include us with autism and be patient with us. We so want to be part of your world!
I had been sad a lot in the last few weeks because I was focusing on the future and all the losses in my life! I think to much of my time thinking on negative events is not healthy! There are a lot of positive things to focus on! I have many blessings that I take for granted! I hope we can all start focusing on what’s right and be happy!
My RPM instructor, Erika, is going to have surgery Friday! I am worried about her! Her wonderful business partner, Amy, had surgery of a different kind Monday! It has been a week of worry for me! I very much want it to go well for both of them! They taught me how to communicate! They will probably be fine, yet I still worry about them! Worry is hard for me! I am very anxious by nature and really obsess about loved ones being hurt! Erika does not realize how important she is to me! Amy is very nice! I want Amy and Erika to be in all our prayers tonight!
People like to argue about their outdoor interests! They enjoy recreation daily! Good times really make everyone happy and terrific! Trying to enjoy each day to the fullest! Trying to excite everyone so that they feel really happy too! Trying to really be grateful every day!
You try your best to do RPM every day! Really hard you work! The iPad is harder than the letter board! I’m really anxious, really anxious! You are great at writing about people’s stories – your stories! You really want to be independent! Everyone wants you to be independent! We all want to have private conversations with people! Everyone really wants to be independent on the iPad!
I’m trying to enjoy time with all my really good friends! The prom is a day to spend with all my wonderful and special nice terrific friends! Time really flies when you are having fun! You want the prom to last all day! Two tries will get what time you ask others to dance! Not a word was more easy to say then yes! We are happy to remember how some people try to say the nicest things about the prom! I’m happy to talk to everyone when I’m at prom! Really happy!
